GB Assembly

In accordance with Section F of the Gilgit-Baltistan Rules of Business, 2009, particularly Rules 35 and 36, the Law & Prosecution Department plays a key coordinating role in the Government's legislative business with the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly.

The Department coordinates matters relating to Assembly sessions and the Government's legislative programme, facilitates the processing and inclusion of official Bills in the business of the Assembly, and undertakes the prescribed legal and procedural requirements relating to legislation. Following the passage of a Bill, the Department also performs the functions assigned to it in connection with its submission for assent and subsequent publication.

In addition, under the Allocation of Business, the Law Department is specifically responsible for coordinating legislative work with the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Secretariat.
