Government Litigation

The Law & Prosecution Department represents and safeguards the legal interests of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan in judicial proceedings. The Department supervises Government litigation, coordinates with the Advocate General, Government Pleaders, Public Prosecutors, and Special Counsel, and ensures effective conduct of cases before competent courts.

Civil and Criminal Litigation

Its responsibilities include instituting and defending civil litigation, handling criminal appeals, pursuing enhancement of sentences where appropriate, monitoring prosecution matters, managing Public Prosecutors and Government Pleaders, appointing Special Counsel, regulating professional fees, and ensuring effective legal representation of the Government in accordance with the law.
