Administration

The Law & Prosecution Department is the principal legal advisory and legislative department of the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan. It is responsible for the overall administration and management of legal affairs, ensuring that Government decisions, policies, legislation, and executive actions conform to applicable laws and constitutional requirements.

The Department administers the Legal Advisory Service (LAS), oversees prosecution services, manages Government litigation, and coordinates legislative business, and processes appointments and notifications relating to judicial and statutory offices. It also provides administrative support for the effective functioning of legal institutions and facilitates coordination among Government Departments, the Judiciary, the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, and other constitutional bodies.
